US IMMIGRATION: INS is now USCIS

Immigration and Naturalization Service - INS became USCIS.

Services formerly provided by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, INS, transitioned into USCIS.When first created the USCIS promised a fundamental transformation and improvement of the delivery methods of its services, elimination of a huge backlog, and implementation of new security standards. The USCIS oversees an array of immigration benefits: approval of students visas, family and employment immigration, adoptions of foreign children, refugee and asylum cases, it grants permanent residency in the U.S., as well as, U.S. citizenship, employment authorization documents, and issues all immigration related documents.
