Good credit is very important in American life and one
should start earning it as soon as possible. Having
good credit in the U.S. can be an essential factor in many
situations which affect your quality of living. It is needed to
get loans from banks, and it can greatly affect terms on which
loans are given. This is true not only for credit cards, auto
loans and home loans, but also for student loans, and start up
business loans guaranteed by the government.
Good credit.
Credit worthiness (good
credit) affects “how good of a deal” you can
get on a purchase that you have to finance, your ability to
get a job (including government jobs), leasing a house and even
buying a cell phone. An easy way to start earning credit is
by opening a secure credit card account. And earning good credit
takes time, so it is better to start sooner rather then later.
Health insurance in the U.S.
The United States is the wealthiest country in the world, but
is the only one among the highly industrialized countries which
does not provide universal health
insurance for its citizens. The health insurance industry,
however, is powerful and well established through many large,
private health care companies. In general, health insurance
is split into three main branches:
- medical insurance
- dental insurance
- vision insurance
Two types of health insurance.
There are two major types of health insurance that exist in
the U.S.:
- PPO insurance (Preferred Provider Organization)
- HMO insurance (Health Maintenance Organization)
There are also hybrids, which have elements of both types.
In the past decade, health insurance costs have been rising
un-proportionately to inflation at astonishingly higher rates
than prices of any other services or goods. This fact is slowly
making health insurance a luxury item in an average person's
budget. If your employer does not provide health coverage, you
are on your own.
Other insurance types.
- life insurance
- auto insurance (it is mandatory in some states, and you
cannot legally drive a car without liability insurance, which
is a component of auto insurance)
- home-owner insurance, or renters' insurance if you rent\lease
- disability insurance
